She slept while I wrote and posted this. |
Fiona Kay is 12 weeks old today.
I can hardly believe a week has passed already. Fiona Kay is 12 weeks old today, and 6 days
away from being 3 months old. Wow.
This
last week has been a fun and interesting week.
On the 3rd I posted and gloated her ability to hold her
bottle. Apparently she resented the
pressure to have to repeat such a feat and refused the bottle ALL WEEK
LONG. Yep, Fiona is mine and Jason’s for
sure. Aunry and stubborn.
Yesterday
I wanted to run to Joanne’s because I had three 50% off coupons that expired by the end of yesterday
and definitely did not want to waste them since I had a couple materials I have
been wanting to buy that weren’t in the cheap category. So I chanced it. She slept great all the way through the
trip. Then, I thought well, I really
need to get tracing paper from Michaels for my project since Joanne’s was out
and I had that last coupon that expires today too… So again I chanced it and
pushed that 3rd hour of nap time.
BIG MISTAKE. I definitely admit
the next part of the story is my fault for pushing it.
She woke up in the tracing and drawing pad
aisle and of course refused the bottle.
She was not a happy camper. Fiona
is very calm cool and collected except for when she is hungry. When she is hungry there is no time to
waste. This girl wants her food, she
wants it now, and no she will not tolerate anything but exactly what she
wants. So. With a battle of the wills I grabbed a
tracing pad (not the best…but at least I can start my project) and headed for
the register to see if I had a chance to check out. Luckily there was only an older woman in line
who thought Fiona was adorable and let me go in front of her and told me “Enjoy
every minute of it! The good and the bad!” Thank you nice older lady at Michaels. Thank you!
Fiona cried all the 5 minutes home, and took the time to exercise her
new vocal chords and yell. What a neat
new and highly effective trick she taught herself. Oi. As
soon as we got home she calmed down to a whimper and then was cool as a
cucumber when ate the way she wanted to be fed.
Oh my beautiful child. I love
you.
The
reason I chose to tell that particular story is the irony of what happened last
night.
She fell asleep yesterday an hour and half
after we got home. Slept until about
5pm. Then she was up and cluster fed and
hung out until about 9pm. Then she
played by herself while Dad and I cooked and cleaned. Then at 10 she started to get fussy and I
told her “ok missy, this 3 oz bottle is your only shot at food tonight. Mommy is done. Legitimately, she has nothing to feed you.“ Then the little angel took the bottle, almost
embraced its presence, sucked the 3 ounces down and was sound asleep by
10:15pm. She slept until 4:45am (well, technically
5:45am with Day Light Savings) woke up, nursed, and slept from 5:15 to 8:30am
(9:30am) this morning.
I tell ya, I love my little bugger. She is not even 3 months old and yet has such
a strong will of what she does and does not want. Sigh.
I am glad that she was smart enough to realize that bottle would
suffice.
I
honestly do not think that she refused the bottle all week due to spite, but
its fun to think so. She really has been
growing like a weed and all she has wanted is MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY!!!! The bottle was a disconnection from mommy and
would only nurse. Yes, this is tiring;
however I loved every second of it. How
could one not love wanting to be the main soother and receiver of hugs and
love?!
She is
definitely growing rapidly and we think that has caused her to be temperamental
and as I like to say, “A delicate little flower.” Some
days she sleeps soundly, while others she sleeps very little. Its pretty apparent it is accompanied by lack
of or abundance of growing pains. Our
little Thumbelina is growing up so fast!
I love
that every day is different. There is no
chance for monotony over here in this little home of ours. Oh Little Baby Fiona.
Cheers!
