A week of CHEERFUL things!

Today is Friday and I have spent the morning reflecting on what a great week I had.  I got in some great family time, had some really great talks with my husband and found myself to be productive to no end.   Looking forward to Fiona’s arrival has really inspired me to dive into all of sorts of things.  Luckily, I have Jason to keep me edited and balanced so I don't fall into a tizzy.
But really, this week I was able to do almost everything I really enjoy.  The only thing that is missing is a trip to the beach, which actually almost took place on Wednesday.  However, a Molcasalsa splurge was just as good for this Preggo lady.  The best thing is that the week’s joyful bringing isn’t even over… tonight we are having ribs with the whole fam, I get to see my new niece Ysabella, and tomorrow Jason and I get to stay at his Grandma’s cabin in Big Bear for the weekend.
Our  one year wedding anniversary is October 16th!  Since my birthday is Oct. 10th and the baby shower is Oct. 13th, we thought it would be brilliant to take advantage of a three day weekend and celebrate our 1 year anniversary a little early to really enjoy it.  Going to Big Bear is perfectly fitting because we had honeymooned at the same spot.  I cannot wait!
So back to this past week…

Like I had mentioned before, I was really able to do a little of everything I enjoy.  One being cooking!  I have been off my game since I have been pregnant.  My knife skills are sluggish and uneven, my taste has been off, pregger brain has caused me to forget ingredients, and my guestimation of done meat is whack (which sucks.  Cutting into everything sucks.) FIONA you are so worth it, but I cannot wait to be back on my cooking game!  NEVERTHELESS, Tuesday was my Dad-in-law’s birthday and he asked me to be his sous chef – we cooked PAELLA.  It was so fun cooking a meal I had never cooked before with the family Chef Master.  And, OMG, let us discuss the deliciousness and the madness of that paella.  That was an awesome meal, food and company in all.  Clams, big shrimp, little shrimp, calamari, kielbasa, rice, saffron, white wine, chicken wings, TLC – HOW COULD YOU GO WRONG.  That dish proved I had not entirely lost my touch.  Thank God.

As I posted before, I had selected all my fabrics for the quilt but needed to change the embroidering cloth.  I went back to Joanne’s and bought 5 yards of the PERFECT shade of tan for Fi’s quilt with my 60% off coupon.

The tan cloth is chilling underneath all the fabrics and threads in the pix.  It blends perfectly, right?  I also went to a different Joanne’s this time (smaller, but more quilter friendly) and found 2 other fabric prints that really enhance the color palette.  For a quarter yard at 25% off I got them for a buck each.  Yesterday I also bought a slew of mulberry-esque embroidering thread to finalize the color scheme.  I decided upon these.

Also this week, I selected the 16 embroidering patterns I want to do.  I might alter 3 or 4 of the more intricate patterns due to time constraints.  I have really taken on 16 5” embroidering projects, on top of a quilt, on top of having my first baby, during a time most would really start contemplating Christmas projects.  So…  I will keep you posted (yes, pun intended).
All embroidering patterns are already fixed in paint and adjusted for the 5” squares.  I will update you further on what they are when I am transferring them. Hmm… maybe Tuesday can be Transfer Tuesday?
The registry at one place is done, invites are going in the mail today, and my first baby shower project can soon commence.
Lastly, I have spent every day reading poetry to Fiona.  She seems to really like it, she kicks a lot when I do!  Do I have a future Literary snob on my hands…a mom-to-be can dream right?  So fun.
OH THE HUMANITY!  I am so lucky to be a housewife.  So I can play and do all these nesting things!  Praise God!

Well, I have gone on and on and on.  And I didn't even mention some other really good things from this week.  Like I said, my mind just won’t stop right now!  So.  Good bye. Ta Ta!  Cheers!!
