I Caught My First Fish Today

LARGEMOUTH BASS

We went fishing today!  The whole gang: Jason, Fiona and me!
Annnnnd I CAUGHT MY FIRST FISH!

Jason turned 31 on Saturday and he decided he wanted to buy himself and I two new fishing poles for his birthday present! (Along with two fishing licences for the year 2013.)  He and I have been talking about going fishing our entire relationship and it just never came to be until today!

Fishing is a HUGE passion and love of Jason’s.  I have gone a few times prior as a kid and thought I might like it.  Little did I know I would love it.  It is the perfect situation.  Jason gets to do what he loves and I can read a book outside, or journal, or play with Fiona, OUTSIDE, and have a chance at catching a fish.  Have I said how perfect of a situation fishing at our local ponds and lakes is?  Fiona was a trooper the entire time.  Perfectly planned nap time.   I am very excited for new fishing adventures with our little family!

This morning we had been at the park for over an hour with nothing, no fishes, not even a tug at the line.  Jason had asked me if I wanted to reel the line in, since I hadn’t tried it yet.  He said, “let me throw a line out after you reel this one in and let’s give it another 10 more minutes, then we will go.  I really doubt we will catch anything today.  It is a little too cold.”  And AS I WAS REELING IN THE LINE I FELT A T.  I thought I had caught the hook on a weed and COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS A FISH!  As you can tell from my expression...I am extremely proud of my capture. It is going to be hard to top catching a fish as I am reeling it in.  Oh man.

Happy, Happy, Happy Lentz Family Time.  Cheers!!!

  1. First of all, that is a huge fish. I love how you write about great family times. So Jason is sporting a major beard. Razor & shaving cream companies are going out of business! I think it is perfect that you read, journal, play with the girl, all while Jason does what he loves and y'all relax chillin' together. More photos of Ms. Fiona, please. My only complaint. Stroller photo without tiny cuteness showing. Just a little problem. Anyway, glad you had fun. Where did you go?

  3. Fishing is really a good way to bond with family. Good thing you chose to do this, and that's one big largemouth bass by the way. At least the hour and so of waiting paid off, and you had something to eat while you celebrate your triumph at home later that day. ==Bernita @ CatchMeIfUCanFishingCharters.com
