El Dorado Nature Center

It has been quite a week of weather here in Southern California.  It was averaging 100 Deg. Fahrenheit this past Monday and it was too cold to wear shorts while running errands during yesterday morning’s June Gloom.  Luckily, Jason Fiona and I chose to walk a trail at El Dorado Nature Center on Wednesday when the weather was nothing less than perfect.  Fiona had an absolute blast!!!!

Jason practices his archery at El Dorado Park just across the street, which you can read about here.  When we purchased an annual pass to the park last month it included access to the Nature Center.  We strolled around the front of the place when we purchased the pass and were stoked to find out there were trails we could walk on with Fiona in the stroller.

We had no idea how beautiful and enchanting this Nature Center is.  I took some pictures with my dinosaur Android phone (iPhone 5 is being purchased next month!!!!)

We took the 1 mile trail since I was just shy of 5 hours sleep from the night before and I think we all know by now that while others can function on little to no sleep, I definitely cannot.

So, let me get back on track (ha…see the pun there?...I laughed as I wrote it…I have ADD today.)

There are 2 huge ponds filled with hundreds of Large Mouth Bass, turtles, dragonflies, all sorts of ducks and so much more.  The ecosystem is thriving with life and it is beautiful to see.  The greenery that you walk through on the trail is awesome.  If you are a reader of fairy tales it is hard not to imagine certain characters belonging in certain areas of this place.  I can hardly believe this place exists here.  If you live in Southern California and are looking for something to do outside I highly, highly encourage you to take a friend or a book and hangout here for the morning/day.

Below are some of the highlights of our walk.  I can't wait to explore the other half of the Nature Center when we take the 2 mile trail next time!
